Ministry chief defends staff level

The Tourism Ministry is not carrying "excess baggage" and contrary to a recent newspaper report, only eight staff were appointed and not 20 in the minister's office.
"We only have eight staff as required in the Public Service Department circular. The rest are employees under subsidiary companies, so the report was inaccurate," secretary-general Datuk Dr Ong Hong Peng said at the ministry's Zoom! Malaysia Aidilfitri open house on Tuesday.He was commenting on a front-page report last week that claimed the ministry had three special officers, five political officers, one research officer, six information technology officers and five support staff in the minister's office.A ministry always defends their staff meanwhile others recomenmend his staff.He is confident the staff he choose the correct choice.Anyone cannot give the direct comments before they have the reasonable infomation .
